Job Purpose:

Facilitates the development of the right future-state architecture and ensures its effective adoption.  Provides overall direction, guidance and definition of architecture programs that effectively support business strategies.  Advocates and supports the enterprises IT strategies, identifying and analysing enterprise business drivers, analysing the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, recommends solutions for improvement and develop strategies for aligning IT to the business. Trusted technology advisor to business in realising the business strategy for the relevant discipline.  Responsible for the end-to-end view across both Capabilities and/or Solution Architecture disciplines, ensuring alignment across relevant domains.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and regularly review and update the organisation’s ICT standards across all technology domains
  • Govern the development and ongoing review and update of the organisation’s Enterprise Architecture and IT Domain Principles
  • Ensure alignment across Architectural disciplines and Solution domains
  • Assist in the development of the organisation’s IT Strategy and the on-going maintenance thereof w.r.t. emerging technology utilisation
  • Facilitate the organisation’s knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technology – and how it can be leveraged for maximum business benefit
  • Calculate the organisation’s Technical Debt and ensure this is regularly communicated to organisation Exco
  • As directed by Business demand, calculate Business Cases for emerging technology deployments to meet business need
  • Facilitate regular Innovation Days and Innovation Workshops for detailed understanding of emerging technology capability
  • Develop and regularly maintain a future-state ICT vision in line with the organisation’s Business and IT Strategies – as well as the roadmap for transforming between current and future ICT vision
  • Govern the Architecture Review Board and the regular meeting of this board to ensure Solution Architecture alignment with ICT Principles, ICT Standards and Future State Vision
  • Governance of Innovation Ideation and the promotion of innovation ideas to Proof of Concept and Pilot Projects

Role Scope:

  • Primary focus is on the development of the Enterprise-level future view w.r.t. ICT and systems
  • Focus will include all supporting artefacts required to effectively and professionally deliver the Enterprise-level future view, including Principles, Standards, Reference Architectures, Patterns and Innovation Ideas and Workshops
  • This role scope will include Solution Architecture where required by the organisation
  • Interacting with ITSM and ESM stakeholders to facilitate timeous capacity upgrades and technology refresh cycles

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in either Information Systems or Computer Science
  • Honours or Master’s Degree (or higher) in either Information Systems or Computer Science
  • TOGAF Foundation Training
  • TOGAF Certification
  • Information Technology Architect Certification (ITAC) (Open Group)

Prior Knowledge

  • Good understanding of business
  • Good understanding of all levels of ICT infrastructure
  • Knowledge of EA methodologies and frameworks, including TOGAF, Gartner and/or Zachman
  • Sound knowledge of systems development life cycles and systems development methodologies
  • Sound knowledge and application of a variety of hardware and software platforms and integrated information systems
  • Knowledge of Information System Design
  • Advanced knowledge of systems development life cycles and systems development methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge and application of a variety of hardware and software platforms and integrated information systems
  • Advanced knowledge in IT Domains of information, security, application, technology infrastructure and integration
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to write speeches and IT articles for publication
